Hypershred Edge by BSN is designed to get help you lose fat and achieve your ideal physique. BSN has a good reputation, so you have to take notice when they release a new product – we couldn’t wait to get our hands on Hypershred Edge and take it for a test run.

BSN’s fat burner claims to offer the right benefits, so hopefully we’ll be impressed by what’s inside.
Take a look:
Founded in 2001, BSN are a supplements company owned by Glanbia plc (a business based in Ireland). They sponsor high-level athletes, most notably Conor McGregor (a professional UFC athlete).
However, we couldn’t find much more information on BSN online.
This fat burner contains 10 main ingredients, which is quite a large number; personally, we prefer supplements that contain fewer ingredients, but in optimal dosages proven to work.
But we’re happy to see some of our favorite fat burning ingredients on this product’s ingredient list – Caffeine, Green Tea Extract and Cayenne Pepper Extract.
We’ll expand on this below:
L-Tyrosine is a great addition to a Nootropic supplement, as it’s shown to improve your cognition. However, an increase in focus isn’t one of the main benefits we look for when choosing a fat burner.
Another ingredient that’s not necessary in a fat burner – L-Carntine has shown to reduce fatigue and boost your focus. These are great benefits that you’d expect from a pre workout supplement (which is why it’s one of our favorite pre workout ingredients, but isn’t necessary in a fat burner).
Now this is a great addition to any fat burner supplement; Caffeine can really help give you a boost of energy when you need it the most (when you’re cutting calories).
However, there’s a problem with the dosage here – there is 200mg of Caffeine per capsule in Hypershred Edge, which means you’ll have to carefully choose when to take them.
To put this into perspective, pre workout supplements are designed to really pump you up for your gym session (which is why they contain big dosages of Caffeine). Well, 200mg would be great for these supplements, but fat burners should be designed so you can take servings throughout your day – whether you’re sat in the office or at college.
If you take 200mg servings of Caffeine while sat at your desk, then you’ll probably become restless and be distracted from your work. So you’ll have to make sure you’re consuming Hypershred Edge in the morning and before your gym session.
As a result, we prefer fat burners that contain 100mg Caffeine dosages per capsule (which is less than a full cup of coffee, but enough to give you a sustainable energy boost).
Green Tea Extract
Another one of our favorite fat burning ingredients for one reason – it works, and studies have proven this.
Long story short, Green Tea Extract has been known for it’s health boosting properties in Asia for centuries, but only become popular in western society within the last few decades (1990-2010).
Since then, Green Tea Extract has shown to promote fat loss – due to containing high amounts of catechins. We won’t go into what these are, but just know that this is a great ingredient in any fat burner.
Cocoa Extract & Yerba Mate
These are both stimulants that will boost your energy levels. However, having too many stimulants in 1 fat burner isn’t good – this is what causes people to suffer from jitters and energy crashes.
As Hypershred Edge already contains Caffeine, there was no need to add Cocoa Extract (Theobromine) and Yerba Mate here. All this has done is increase your risk of side effects.
Cayenne Pepper Extract
If you’ve ever eaten chilli peppers before, you know how spicy they can be – and how they can make you sweat. Well, this raise in body temperature is exactly what increases your metabolism (which promotes fat loss).
These kinds of ingredients are known as ‘thermogenics’, and studies have proven they can help you shred belly fat. As a result, Cayenne Pepper Extract is one of our favorite fat burning ingredients out there.
This isn’t seen in many fat burners, but early studies suggest that it can enhance the benefits of Green Tea Extract. But there hasn’t been enough research conducted on Quercetin to prove that it works.
As a result, it’s an unreliable ingredient.
Otherwise known as CDP-Choline, this is believed to improve your cognition. But as we mentioned with L-Tyrosine, a boost in focus isn’t a key reason why we’d take a fat burner – we’d take a fat burner to shred belly fat!
It depends on what you want out of a fat burner, but we’d prefer ingredients that’re shown to promote fat loss.
Black Pepper Extract
Black Pepper Extract can improve the absorption rate of a supplement, but it’s never a key ingredient in any product.

The worst thing about Hypershred Edge is that it contains an overload of stimulants – 400mg Caffeine, and 240mg Cocoa Extract (Theobromine) and 120mg Yerba Mate. In a nutshell, this increases your risk of suffering from jitters and energy crashes (which is why we stay below 100mg Caffeine per capsule).

BSN Hypershred Edge contains some great ingredients for a fat burner – Green Tea Extract, Cayenne Pepper & Caffeine. But unfortunately, the rest of the ingredients lets this product down.
There was no need for BSN to add Yerba Mate or Cocoa Extract (Theobromine) which only increases your risk of side effects (such as jitters and energy crashes).
As a result, we believe there are better fat burners on the market – but this deserves a 3 star rating.
