It is not uncommon to hit a barrier or two when trying to improve your physique, so that is why fat burners have become so popular.
MuscleTech’s Hydroxycut Hardcore Elite is one of the leading fat-burning products currently on the market and it has received a number of positive reviews.
With some strong ingredients it is easy to see why, although there are some concerns over yohimbine – which can be effective but there are case studies highlighting the potential side effects.
If capsules aren’t your thing then it is worth shopping around and trying the powdered form.
Cayenne Powder – Helps the fat-loss process in a number of ways. Some studies have also shown that the red hot chili can suppress appetite, while it also delivers a natural thermogenic boost by raising the body’s temperature.
Caffeine – A well-researched stimulant, caffeine boosts the body’s metabolism and increases energy levels.
Green Coffee Extract – It is the chlorogenic acid that is found in green coffee beans which assists the fat-burning process. Chlorogenic acid inhibits the enzyme glucose-6-phosphatase to cut down on the formation of glucose in your liver.
Coleus Forskohlii – This herb helps to reduce fat mass and levels of fatigue, while also increasing testosterone.
Yohimbine – A proven fat-burning compound, studies have highlighted the benefits of yohimbine when delivered in the right doses. It has also been shown to increase blood pressure and heart rate.
L-theanine – This amino acid has proven stress-relief qualities. Research has shown it aids relaxation and reduces anxiety.
Cocoa extract – There is some research which has suggested there are benefits in using cocoa extract as part of a balanced diet, particularly as an appetite suppressant, although this is limited.

Hardcore is probably a good word to have in the name as it goes a long way to describe this fat burner.
It has a good dose of caffeine (270mg) in each serving, although two servings a day will be too strong for some people.
The downside for us is the inclusion of yohimbine – with case studies highlighting the possible side effects associated with it.
We would also have liked to have seen more of an appetite suppressant added as well to counterattack the feelings of hunger associated with fat burners. However MuscleTech claim the “key weight loss ingredient… has been shown to be effective in two scientific studies”.
